My Watch polishing and refurbishing services require intricate attention to detail to ensure that the best possible results are achieved. By removing scratches and abrasions that have built up over time, your watch is restored to it's former glory.
Here are the steps I take to achieve this:
All scratches and abrasions are removed either by a rubber carborundum wheel or by hand.
Depending on the finish required, either a flat brush wheel is used to create a brushed satin finish or a fine cloth wheel with a compound is used to create a polished finish.
Most scratches can also be removed from acrylic glass. (If your watch has a mineral or sapphire glass, we can replace the glass if necessary).
The bracelet and watch case are then cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner to ensure that no particles left over from the polishing remain.
The bracelet and watch case are then rinsed and dried and movement is placed back into the watch.
Here’s the typical service that each watch receives
· The watch is disassembled and all old pins are disposed of.
· The crown is removed and checked for wear.
· The movement is removed and also checked and cleaned of any dust etc.
· The battery is removed and disposed of.
· Battery terminals are checked for positioning and cleanliness:
When a battery is replaced, the new one is pushed into position, sometimes displacing the very delicate positioning arms, resulting in an unreliable seating of the battery. This can potentially cause unreliability after just a mild shock.
· The watch strap and case are thoroughly cleaned by ultrasound to remove surface grime.
· The bezel is checked for play, cleaned and lubricated as required.
· The external luminous dots are checked and re-applied if required.
· The bezel numbers are checked under magnification for loss of paint or scratches and repainted if required.
· Then each part of the case, strap, clasp and watch rear are polished to a gleaming finish using a three stage process.
· The watch is then reassembled with new battery and pins and then adjusted to achieve new-watch tautness.
· All chronograph functions are tested.
I spend about 4-5 hours, sometimes longer, meticulously preparing each watch so that you receive a well serviced and gleaming timepiece. I enjoy the process and especially the great feedback that I get each time.
